Everyone seems obsessed with weight loss and losing weight any way possible. What this site is obsessed with is healthy weight loss. But what exactly constitutes losing weight in a healthy way? And is there any real way to make weight loss safe? This article reveals the answers…
First up, it is important to understand that the healthiest way to lose weight is not though crash dieting, sudden and intense exercise, or weight loss pills and supplements. If you choose to employ any of these strategies, not only do you risk harming your body, and possibly deprive it of nutrients it needs, but you’re also highly likely to end up disheartened and demotivated.
So, with all that said – if you’re saying to yourself “how do I lose weight?” what should you do?
Here are those healthy weight loss answers:
1.) Start monitoring your fat loss, not necessarily your weight loss.
Fat loss is the key to healthy weight loss. Crash diets lead to muscle wastage and an increase in your body fat percentage – you may find these diets help you lose “weight” but they won’t ever help you lose “fat”. You want to have a figure don’t you – then find a healthy diet plan for weight loss – which focuses on fat loss!
2.) Limit your portion sizes.
Eating smaller portions spaced throughout the day ensures that your body is able to fully utilize all the nutrients from each meal, this type of “grazing” strategy also means you’ll have your metabolism revved up and burning calories more efficiently all day long.
3.) Ensure your diet is balanced and nutritious.
Whether you want to lose weight or not, a balanced diet is imperative for general health and well-being. Choose foods from the whole food spectrum, including fats and carbs; these are not the enemy and won’t make you fat, so long as you eat them in the right quantities and at the right times!
4.) Start slow and build up gradually with exercise.
Don’t start going crazy with the running and press-ups before you know your body can handle it. If you have spent the past year lazing on the sofa your body won’t be happy if you start hitting the gym for 3 hours every day all of a sudden. Build things up slowly, start with walks, build to jogs, then to runs, and then if you feel good try sprinting – if you want healthy weight loss, you need to make sure your exercising is tip top.
5.) Find out you “specific” calorie requirements.
This last healthy weight loss tip is a big one. Discovering exactly how much you should be eating is imperative if you want long term success with your weight. Work out your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and figure out YOUR exact calorie requirements, then create a weight loss plan based upon them.
Weight loss isn’t a science – it’s about doing the right things more often than not – do this, keep following through with the fat loss strategies outlined above, and there is no doubt you’ll begin losing weight steadily – achieving that healthy weight loss that you’re striving for.
